CHICAGO, IL — December 2025 —The SAA Foundation Board of Directors convened for its fall meeting on November 20–21, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, with hybrid and virtual participation. The two-day session focused on strengthening governance, advancing strategic priorities, and building fundraising capacity to support archivists and archival programs.
Key Actions and Highlights:
Financial Stewardship and Operational Progress
The Board reviewed FY25 financial performance, noting an 18.3% increase in contributions, with total giving reaching $47,000. Growth was driven by successful campaigns for the Catalyst Fund and Mosaic Fund (1125-II-C-Ops.pdf). The Board also received updates on audit readiness and improvements in financial reporting systems (via Board listserv).
Strategic Planning for Sustainability
Directors reaffirmed priorities under the 2022–2025 Strategic Plan, including expanding financial resources, strengthening governance, and cultivating a philanthropic culture.
Board Engagement and Training
The Board emphasized its commitment to active fundraising participation and donor stewardship. A dedicated training session equipped members with strategies for donor engagement, crafting personal “why” statements and building confidence in fundraising roles.
Program Enhancements
The Board approved updates to the National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives (NDRFA) guidelines, including expanded eligibility windows and flexibility for repeat applications, ensuring greater support for institutions impacted by disasters (1125-IV-A-NDRFA.pdf).
2026 Annual Meeting Planning
Preparations are underway for fundraising activities at the 2026 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, including Trivia Night, the Silent Auction, and Mosaic Fund headshots, with an emphasis on cost control and community engagement.

The Board of Directors will continue focusing on building a culture of philanthropy, refining fundraising strategies, and strengthening governance to ensure the sustainability and impact of the Foundation’s programs.
