Changes to Archival Outlook Mailing Procedures

CHICAGO—SAA’s bi-monthly magazine, Archival Outlook, has long been made available to SAA members in both print and digital formats. Both formats have their benefits and drawbacks, and we recognize that different people have different preferences when it comes to reading.

However, SAA is always looking for ways to improve our service. Thus, in an effort to decrease our carbon footprint and reduce clutter for members, the magazine will be moving to an opt-in model for receiving print copies. This change will be rolled out in phases starting in March. You will receive an email informing you if you are in the first phase.

Please note WE ARE NOT GETTING RID OF THE PRINT EDITION. Members can still opt-in to receive the print version moving forward. This simply means you will no longer automatically receive the issue if you haven’t opted in.

Instructions for how to opt-in, as well as responses to some FAQS, can be found below.

How to Opt-In to the Print Version

  1. Log in at https://mysaa.archivists.org/
  2. Visit the Edit My Profile Section (left side navigation)
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and edit your Communication and Mailing Preferences by unchecking the "Opt-Out of Magazine Print Copy" box
  4. Click Save

Please Note: If you are an Institutional Member, you should reach out directly to SAA's Service Center (ServiceCenter @ archivists.org) to update your mailing preferences.
