May 30, 2024—At its May 6 and 10 virtual meeting, the SAA Foundation Board:
- Approved meeting minutes from the February 2024 Foundation Board meeting. Those are now available on the SAA website. (II.A)
- Discussed the Indigenizing Archival Training (IAT) program with Diana Marsh, Vina Begay, and Selena Ortega-Chiolero. They will present a concept paper for additional grant funding. The SAA Foundation is dedicated to supporting Indigenous leadership in this initiative. (0524-SAAF-V-A-IAT)
- Approved adjustments to the Foundation Bylaws from the Governance Working Group (GWG) and will receive a final report in the next quarterly meeting. They also approved the dissolution of the GWG after incorporating changes to the Bylaws to establish a Governance Committee. (0524-SAAF-V-B-GWG)
- Approved eight grant proposals for the 2024 Strategic Growth Grant Program, totaling $38,400. Recipients will be recognized at ARCHIVES*RECORDS 2024 in Chicago.
- Reviewed and approved four candidates for Class B members and two candidates for Emerging Professionals on the SAA Foundation Board of Directors. Final confirmation will be determined by the SAA Council.
- Approved the Nominating Committee's recommendations for vacant roles in SAA Foundation committees. Candidates have been proposed for Development Committee, Grant Review Committee, and NDRFA Review Committee positions for the term 2024-2026. Additionally, nominees have been selected for the new Emerging Professional role within these committees for the term 2024-2025.
- Began reviewing the FY2025 budget. After thorough review and discussion, the Board decided to postpone the vote until June 2024 to allow for further examination of the supporting documents. (0524-SAAF-V-A-Fin)
