June 2, 2023—At its May 16-17, 2023, hybrid meeting, the SAA Council:
- Approved minutes for the February 1 and 3, 2023 Council meeting, now available on the SAA website here. (II.B.)
- Reviewed and updated the Strategic Plan Actions and Timelines dashboard. (III.B.)
- Approved SAA Foundation Class B Board Slate for the 2023–2026 term commencing at the end of the 2023 Annual Meeting. (IV.A.)
- Approved the creation of a new Archival Worker Labor Task Force. The Archival Worker Labor Task Force is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing archival worker labor issues that SAA can impact for the purpose of building long-term structural support among archival workers, SAA, and other organizations for secure and equitable labor conditions for all archival workers. (IV.B.)
- Approved recommendation submitted by the Committee on Education on the Management track competencies. (IV.C.)
- Approved increasing the number of members, as recommended by the Standards Committee, to the Technical Subcommittee on Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS); revision of the guidelines for a Graduate Program in Archival Studies and appointing the Graduate Archival Education Subcommittee to maintain and revise the Best Practices for Internships. (IV.D.1, D.3., D.5.)
- Approved a 2-year moratorium on new sections while the Council reviews and completes its section health assessment.
