Join Archival Advocates on Capitol Hill in July

June 1, 2023—Join archival advocates from across the country on Tuesday, July 25, for the second “Archives on the Hill” event. This day of advocacy with legislative policymakers coincides with the CoSA + SAA 2023 Joint Annual Meeting.

Many issues that archivists face in their day-to-day work cannot be solved by a single institution or one individual. Systemic barriers require systemic and collective solutions. The Archives on the Hill Coordinating Committee is looking for advocates who are ready to share information about archival issues and concerns related to archives, archivists, and the resources researchers need to promote change on a national level; for example, increased funding for archival programs across the country and improved statutes to ensure the essential evidence of our democracy is preserved and accessible. If this is you, join us at "Archives on the Hill" this summer in Washington, DC!

Register for the event and show Congress why they should support archives!

What you'll do as an advocate:

  • Attend a training
  • Meet with your legislative policy maker(s) on July 25
  • Attend a debrief or fill out a form to share what happened at your visit
  • Ask the Archives on the Hill team for any support you need along the way!

What the Archives on the Hill Coordinating Committee will do to support you:

  • Identify legislative contacts
  • Produce information packets
  • Schedule meetings
  • Hold a training and a debrief
  • Team you up with experienced advocates
  • Provide any support you need along the way!

The Archives on the Hill Coordinating Committee consists of the Council of State Archivists, the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators, and the Society of American Archivists.
