April 23, 2020—Thank you to the 155 donors who contributed more than $26,000 during Wednesday’s matching campaign for the Archival Workers Emergency Fund. With the AWEF Organizing Committee’s generous match, we raised more than $31,000 for the fund in just one day!
A special thank you goes to the Society of Southwest Archivists and the Archivist Roundtable of Metropolitan New York, Inc., organizations that each made $5,000 contributions yesterday. Likewise, we are grateful to the many individuals who made incredibly generous gifts.
To date, we have raised more than $60,850 from 455 donors, in addition to the Foundation Board's initial $15,000 seed funding. This is fantastic news, as we have received 80 applications, with more being submitted each day. The AWEF Review Committee is evaluating the first set of applications this week, and will continue to review and disperse funds as quickly as possible!
Much gratitude and thanks to all those who have contributed in so many ways to the Archival Workers Emergency Fund!
Created in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Archival Workers Emergency Fund was established to provide financial assistance for archival workers experiencing acute, unanticipated financial hardship due to the crisis.
If you have the means, please consider donating to directly support your fellow archival workers who have been furloughed, lost hours, or otherwise been significantly affected financially by the COVID-19 crisis. Any amount will help!
The Society of American Archivists Foundation is the nation’s leading source of nonprofit funding dedicated to the interests of archives and archivists. Donations to the SAA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax deductible.
A question from bloxd io: Are there any specific criteria the AWEF Review Committee is looking for in the applications?
