Society of American Archivists President Danna C. Bell and SAA Foundation Board President Fynnette Eaton invite volunteers for service on the SAA Foundation Board of Directors.
The Society of American Archivists Foundation is the nation’s leading source of nonprofit funding dedicated solely to the interests of archives and archivists. Its mission is, “To enrich the knowledge and enhance the contributions of current and future generations by championing efforts to preserve and make accessible evidence of human activity and records of enduring value.” To that end, the Foundation funds public and professional education initiatives through programs and scholarships. Other activities include research, publications, and awards.
The SAA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose purposes are exclusively charitable and educational. The sole corporate member of the Foundation is the Society of American Archivists. The Foundation Board comprises:
Class B directors are elected by the SAA Council based on a slate developed by the SAA Foundation Board. Class B directors serve staggered three-year terms, and may be reelected to an unlimited number of successive terms in office.
The Foundation Board of Directors conducts an annual face-to-face meeting in January (typically in Chicago) and communicates via electronic means throughout the year. Officers are elected annually in January and serve for one year. The Board is assisted in its work by Board-appointed Finance and Development committees; it may appoint other committees as it deems appropriate. Board members are expected to participate actively in decision-making and actions directed to strengthening the Foundation’s capacity to fulfill its mission.

Greetings! My cousin wanted to get married in Canada and the process required a lot of translated paperwork from her home country—birth certificate, legal status proof, and more. She asked me to help, but I had no idea where to start. We finally used translation services, and the results were exactly what the authorities requested. The marriage office accepted everything without delay, which was a huge relief because weddings already come with enough stress. Watching her go through that process showed me how critical proper translations are for life events, not just for formal immigration or business purposes.
