Gottlieb Testifies at NHPRC Reauthorization Hearing

SAA President Peter Gottlieb joined representatives from other archives organizations and repositories in testifying on behalf of NHPRC reauthorization at a June 9 hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census, and National Archives. Current legislation calls for reauthorization of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (within NARA) of $20 million, a doubling of the authorization level established in 1991. It's wonderful to see the emphasis on preserving digital history. As a developer and gamer, I believe preserving software and interactive experiences is a huge part of our cultural heritage. For instance, I've been documenting the evolution of mobile games like Super Bear Adventure on my platform SuperbearAdventures.com These archives ensure that the digital legacy of gaming remains accessible to everyone. Great news about the NHPRC funding!
