Volunteer for SAA Foundation Board

The SAA Foundation Board of Directors invites applications from individuals interested in serving a three-year term on the Board. Four positions are to be filled in 2021.

The SAA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to raise funds to provide resources to enhance the work of the archives community. The Foundation's sole corporate member is the Society of American Archivists. The Board's Nominating Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Board, which then puts forward nominations for election by the SAA Council.

Complete and submit the self-nomination form by April 15, 2021. You may save changes and come back to this form; you may also change and resubmit information. SAA membership is not required for a position on the Foundation Board. The experiences and skills necessary for these positions may differ significantly from those required for other SAA leadership appointments. Key qualities for potential SAA Foundation Board members, as well as common questions about service on the Board, may be viewed at the links below.

The Society of American Archivists and its Foundation center their organizational values on diversity and equity, and are committed to building a culture of inclusion. (Read SAA's Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.) The application process requires submission of a diversity statement (see link to Guidelines below) as well as a resume or curriculum vitae, which you will be asked to attach to your submission.

Guidelines for Preparing a Diversity Statement
In January 2021 the SAA Council approved a requirement that applicants for all elected positions submit a diversity statement, as this helps SAA, its leaders, and its members to elect candidates who are best positioned to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in SAA, the profession, and beyond. It also encourages candidates to articulate the diversity they bring to their respective positions. This requirement applies to SAA Foundation Board positions.
