Call for an Early-Career Member Volunteer to Serve One Year on MDOS Steering Committee

The Metadata and Digital Object Section (MDOS) seeks an Early-Career Member volunteer to serve on the Steering Committee for one year to gain valuable leadership experience and mentorship. Students and new professionals are encouraged to apply. Members of the Steering Committee will work closely with the Early-Career Member to develop a mission-focused, attainable project designed to help meet their career goals and introduce them to professional service.

The successful applicant is expected to devote an average of 30 minutes/week to Section activities and participate in monthly Steering Committee meetings for one year ranging from August 8, 2020 to August 7, 2021.

Because these positions are intended to be opportunities for professional and leadership development, all applicants must be:

  • A member of SAA, and
  • A student who is currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program with an archives component or focus, and/or
  • A new archives professional with three or fewer years of experience in the profession.

If interested, please submit a letter of interest of no more than 500 words that details your goals for serving on the Steering Committee by Thursday, May 28, 2020 to the MDOS Steering Committee Co-chairs, Carolyn Runyon at carolyn-runyon@utc.edu and Elizabeth Wilkinson at ew8ff@virginia.edu. We strongly encourage all Early-Career Member Volunteer applicants to think broadly about their learning goals and what they hope to accomplish, and to pitch specific projects they might undertake during their time on the Steering Committee.
