2004 Annual Report

Submitted to report the activities of the SAA Student Chapter at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY during the 2003-2004 School Year.

In the Spring of 2004, the UK SAA Student Chapter was formed. The first meeting was held on February 2, 2004. Officer positions were voted on and the officers named were:

    Valerie Edgeworth

Treasurer
    Richard Leigh

Other active members: Jason Flahardy and Jim Cundy

In addition to the chapter meeting, activities of the year were several tours to archival and library institutions throughout the state. These locations were:

February 6, 2004:
    Keeneland Library in Lexington, KY

February 13, 2004:
    Kentucky Underground Storage (High Bridge) in Wilmore, KY

February 27, 2004:
    Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, KY

March 5, 2004:
    Eastern Kentucky University Special Collections in Richmond, KY and Berea College Special Collections and Archives in Berea, KY

April 2, 2004:
    University of Louisville Special Collections and the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, KY

For Fall 2004, the UK SAA Student Chapter will have at least two activities/meetings. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 13, 2004 and will be open to current and prospective SAA Student members.

At least one other meeting/activity will be held in the semester, with a goal of three activities for the Fall Semester.

For Spring 2005, activities will again include all tours of the previously mentioned archival facilities. In addition, one other activity outside of the tours will be held.
