March 2, 2020—SAA has joined the Public Citizen Litigation Group and several historical associations in a letter to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts proposing amendment of Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e) to “make clear that district courts have authority to order disclosure, in appropriate circumstances, of grand jury materials of historical significance, and…provide a temporal end point for grand jury secrecy with respect to materials that are stored as archival records at the National Archives.” Read the full letter here.

Sprunki Retake Mod as an advocate for transparency in judicial proceedings, I think the move to amend the jury rules is a great move. It's time we re-evaluate how these records are kept.
