The SAA Diversity Committee will facilitate a Listening/Strategy Session to reflect on the SAA Council Statement on Black Lives and Archives and brainstorm ideas about creating change from top to bottom within the Society, with a particular emphasis on ensuring accountability to reduce harm to Black and brown people and begin repairing centuries of violence committed against Black people in our society and in our profession. This event is open for everyone.

The Black Lives and Archives Listening/Strategy Session is designed as an open event where participants can reflect on the SAA Council Statement on Black Lives and Archives while discussing meaningful ways to create lasting change within the Society and the archival profession. The session emphasizes accountability, reducing harm toward Black and brown communities, and beginning efforts to address and repair the long history of violence and inequity affecting Black people in society and within professional spaces.
