SAA Comments on Copyright Office’s Section 1201 Study

In comments submitted by SAA President Nance McGovern on October 25, SAA calls for a new permanent exemption in US Copyright law for obsolete technologies: “The most effective solution would be to exempt legal activities from the limitations imposed by Section 1201…. Archivists are not a threat to the creative endeavor. Instead, our labor preserves and makes available the raw material for imaginative, innovative, and inventive new works.
