SNAP Steering Committee 2019-2020
Meeting #7: Tuesday, 3/17/2020
Time: 5 PM PT / 7 PM CT/ 8 PM ET
  1. Chair
    1. COVID-19 check-in: Let’s expect disruptions. Take care of yourselves!
    2. SAA elections OPEN NOW

      4. Section elections will be announced later this spring, if you know anyone interested in running for SNAP!
    3. Annual Meeting update
    4. Teaming up with Business Archives Section for salary negotiation workshop during the beginning of their annual colloquium on Wednesday during SAA20, have submitted a proposal to SAA for section mtg planning & let them know sections to avoid conflicts with
    5. Tentative SNAP/BAS schedule as follows:
      1. 12-12:10 Welcome and roll call (we typically go around the room and say our names and institutions)
        12:10-12:40 SNAP section meeting
        12:40-1:00 Break - Networking between SNAP and BAS members
        1:00-2:30 Session on negotiating salaries as well as a break-out session to practice techniques in pairs or small groups
        2:30-3:00 Break
        3:00-4:00 BAS topic – TBD
        4:00-4:20 Break
        4:20-5:00 BAS section meeting
        **requested that the workshop not take place as same time as manuscripts
  2. Vice Chair/Chair-Elect
    1. No updates
  3. Blog Team
    1. Joe working on an “Archivists in Movies” blog
    2. Katie sent out an email for round table ideas/participation for the blog
  4. Social Media
    1. “Luck in the Archives” for next SNAP chat, happening next week.
  5. Student Chapter Coordinator
    1. Hope has been contacting coordinators for schools and programs; updating contact info for schools/programs; some new information for new contacts has been obtained but many people aren’t responding.
    2. Lourdes: Contacted student chapter advisors, updated contacts. At least five faculty advisors replied. Three retired so the archival programs were closed and are no longer active. One faculty voiced concern about the May deadline for submitting an annual report in the midst of COVID-19.  Like Hope, I had many advisors who did not respond. Some archival programs that closed are offering Data Science/Data Management.
    3. Expect communication to be difficult with schools and programs over the next few weeks
    4. Student chapter support during this unknown period?
  6. Web Liaison
    1. No updates; continuing to work with Felicia to get new member material up
