As we have begun returning to our collections over the past few months, there are sure to have been surprises waiting for us! Join the SAA Preservation Section for an informal virtual coffee klatch to catch up with each other and talk about the “new normal” in our workplaces.

We are hosting an hour-long forum on Friday, October 16th from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm ET to talk about pandemic-related closures and the aftermath, with guided conversations about what is like to be back and group problem solving to address your preservation concerns.

Suggested discussion topics include:
    •    Collections disasters during closure (HVAC turned off, mold outbreaks, equipment failures)
    •    Complicated work schedules & management (hybrid work, alternating schedules, monitoring the environment, impacts on preservation training)
    •    Welcoming researchers back into our buildings (quarantining collections, disinfection protocols)

And, last but not least:
    •    Successes during closure (backlog progress, completing projects, etc.)

This forum is intended to be participatory and interactive. Is there a particular topic you want to discuss? Please let us know and we’ll be sure to include it!
