LACCHA Jr. Co-Chair elections

LACCHA Jr. Co-Chair elections will be held electronically from July 1 through 15. Please have a look below at the candidate(s) biographies and statements.

Joel A. Blanco-Rivera
Bio
Joel is an Assistant Professor at Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science. He recently received his PhD at the University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences. His research has focused on the study of the relation between archives and transitional justice in Latin America. He has work as an archivist and librarian in Puerto Rico and taught at the University of Puerto Rico’s Graduate School of Information Sciences and Technologies.

Candidate Statement
I believe the role of the co-chair focuses on the continuation of the work done and identifying opportunities for increasing our presence in the archival community. The work of LACCHA has been excellent, as demonstrated by the large participation in SAA panels sponsored by the roundtable and the participation of members of LACCHA as presenters in panels outside of SAA. This is an important area in which we should continue working, and particularly in identifying more opportunities to share ideas with archivists in Latin America and the Caribbean.
