Labor Archives Section: Co-Chair Election. Candidate Statement by Shae Rafferty

I am the Labor and Urban Affairs Collections Archivist at the Walter P. Reuther Library (Wayne State University).  I hold a BA and a MSI with a specialization in Archives and Records Management from the University of Michigan.  I have previously served on the Steering Committee of the SAA Congressional Papers Section as well as numerous conference planning committees with Midwest Archives Conference and have loved these opportunities to work with colleagues from across the country.

I feel very fortunate to work at an institution so well known for its labor collections and have learned a great deal about labor history and the importance of these collections since beginning my job at the Reuther Library in 2017.

I look forward to becoming more involved in the Labor Archives Section. If elected as co-chair I would work to support labor archivists and facilitate communication and collaboration between labor archives to promote the use and availability of labor archives by continuing projects already in progress and hopefully bringing some new ideas to the table!

Thank you for your consideration
