August 31, 2001. SAA LAR meeting in Washington, DC.
1. Roundtable chair Dan Golodner opened the meeting with a
commemoration of Debra Bernhardt, who passed away on
March 22, 2001. Debra was a trade union historian and
the director of the Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives at
New York University. Roundtable members shared their
memories of her, and recalled her tenacious commitment,
generosity, and warm friendship.
2. Karyl Winn from the University of Washington gave a slide
presentation of the WTO History Project Website, a
collaborative project between the Center of Labor Studies,
the archives, and the community.
3. LAR members shared news about their shops and
discussed inititatives for the coming year. They approved
to update and place online the directory of the Labor
Archives Roundtable, which had been originally prepared
by Debra Bernhardt and Brenda Parnes. Patrizia Sione
volunteered for office and was elected chair. No vice-chair
was elected.
