Current Projects

The SAA Committee on Education has been charged with investigating the following topics by SAA council. This page will be used for posting reports to Council, as well as additional information for the SAA membership about the status of these projects.

Charge from SAA Council

That the Education Committee explore the desirability and feasibility of developing and implementing an accreditation program in graduate archival education, that the Committee conduct a broad-based survey to obtain member input into the question, and that it provide a preliminary report with recommendations to the Council at its May/June 2009 meeting.

The American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) has recently considered creating an accreditation process for information programs. Their research and findings are summarized in these two documents:
