Welcome to ARCS

The Archivists of Religious Collections Section (ARCS) is a group of professional archivists who work for national, international, and local Church organizations, religious societies and orders, and theological schools. ARCS members document the many sides of the faith experience.  ARCS members represent large and small repositories and a cross-section of the diverse North American community of practice.  Members have roles as directors, digital archivists, special collections curators, and records managers. Membership in ARCS is open to any member of the Society of American Archivists who preserves and makes accessible the documents of churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions and agencies. The Section meets annually at the time and place of the Society of American Archivists annual meeting and publishes an occasional newsletter, The Archival Spirit.

Thank you to all of our excellent candidates for standing in the 2019 Archives of Religious Collections Section election. Please take some time to review their candidate statements and get to know them so you can make an informed choice. You will be voting for: One Vice Chair/Chair-Elect (or Co-chair), for a two-year term; and 1 Member-at-large two year term. Ballots will be managed by SAA staff through Survey Monkey; keep an eye on your inbox for when the ballot opens!
Three candidates were nominated for the ARCS vice-chair/chair-elect. Four candidates were nominated for the ARCS steering committee member-at-large (one vacancy). Election ballots will open at the beginning of July 2017. Read more about the candidates here.
