The Association of St. Louis Area Archivists (ASLAA), formed in 1972, is a professional association of archivists and manuscript curators from institutions throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area (a bi-state region including communities in Missouri and Illinois.) Membership is open to all interested individuals. ASLAA holds two meetings per year at repositories around the St. Louis area and publishes a newsletter, the Acid Free Press.
ASLAA is established to promote professional education for archivists in the St. Louis metropolitan area by sponsoring speakers, workshops, and other educational programs; to serve as a network for the exchange of information concerning St. Louis area repositories, collections, procedures, standards, and ethics; and to promote cooperation with allied professionals at the local, regional, and national levels.
