Hosting a Continuing Education Event

The Society of American Archivists has developed a wide array of professional continuing education programs available for hosting by repositories and other institutions. The major benefits of hosting? Bringing a high-quality SAA workshop to your location, plus savings on time and resources. And, the process is much easier than you think!

To bring a workshop to your location, we need a “host institution” willing to provide SAA with complimentary meeting space, AV equipment (speficis listed with each description), and minimal beverage breaks (water, tea, coffee).

SAA takes care of every other aspect of the event, including instructor honorarium and reimbursement for travel, lodging and meals; workshop materials including examination management for DAS course; rosters, name badges, Certificates of Continuing Education Units, registration processing, etc. We also market the workshop but anticipate that the host institution assists by disseminating event information to its members, staff, and/or local archivists, as you may have a more comprehensive mailing list.

In addition, we provide one complimentary registration for most workshops and a $25 discount off the non-member fee to staff and/or members of the hosting institution. SAA does not publish that information and asks that the hosting institution disseminates the details directly to its eligible staff or members.  Often, eligible registrants are asked to enter a code into the promotional space on the online registration form; SAA staff then processes the discount manually, and the correct amount is reflected on the registration confirmation receipt.

We pride ourselves in making this process as easy as possible; we do the heavy lifting, making it a truly painless process!
