Continuing Professional Education Catalog
The Society of American Archivists has developed a wide array of professional continuing education programs available for hosting by repositories and other institutions. The major benefits of hosting? Bringing a high-quality SAA workshop or DAS course to your location, plus savings on time and resources! Also listed are recordings of Web Seminars that are available online On Demand or on audio CD.
All SAA programs follow the Guidelines for Archival Continuing Education (ACE), which were developed by the Committee on Education, vetted through broad discussion with the SAA membership, and adopted by the SAA Council in 2006. The Guidelines are intended to encourage creation of opportunities for lifelong learning within the archives community.
The ACE Guidelines identify eight “standard areas of archival knowledge,” which serve as the basis for organizing SAA’s workshop and DAS course offerings. If your institution is interested in hosting an SAA offering, just click on a title for more information including set up requirements.
In addition, all programs are ordered by tiers: Foundational (F), Tactical and Strategic (TST), Tools and Services (T&S), and Transformational Courses (TR). Check out Glossary of Terms.
SAA is committed to providing education and training to ensure that archivists adopt appropriate practices for appraising, capturing, preserving, and providing access to electronic records. That’s why we’ve developed the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) Curriculum and Certificate Program, designed to provide you with the information and tools you need to manage the demands of born-digital records.
