April 28, 2023—The results of SAA's 2023 election are in! The following individuals have been elected to serve:
- Tomaro Taylor (University of South Florida Libraries) has been elected SAA Vice President/President-Elect. Tomaro begins a one-year term as vice president this August and will become SAA's 79th president in 2024–2025.
- Alison Clemens (Yale University Library), Michelle Ganz (Dominican Sisters of Peace), and Selena Ortega-Chiolero (Chickaloon Village Traditional Council - Nay’dini’aa Na’ Kayax) have been elected to the SAA Council for three-year terms beginning this August (2023–2026).
- The 2023 Nominating Committee will consist of Courtney Dean (University of California, Los Angeles), Krystal Tribbett (University of California, Irvine), and Sarah Quigley (University of Nevada, Las Vegas). As the individual who received the most votes, Tribbett will serve as chair of the Committee. In addition, the Nominating Committee includes two third-year Council members who will be selected by the Council at its May 2023 meeting.
SAA is grateful to all of the individuals who put their names forward for the 2023 ballot as well as to the 2023 Nominating Committee for their service: Louis Jones (chair), Jessica Neal, Brittany Newberry, and Council members Stephen Curley and Rachel Winston.
And thanks to the many members who voted in this election! We achieved a participation rate of more than 18 percent.
