SNAP Steering Committee Meeting Minutes - 06/27/2017

SNAP Steering Committee 2016-2017

Date: June 27, 2017

Location: Skype

Time: 8 pm EST/7 pm CST/5 pm PST

Attending: Eve Bourbeau-Allard, Kelly Kietur, Adriana Flores, Amanda Mellinger, Emily Kintigh, Lauren Gaylord

  1. Elections

    1. Kelly got an email today from Felicia Owens that the whole election form will go live tomorrow. Tomorrow everyone who is a member of SNAP should get the ballot in their email. Starts tomorrow and ends July 12th. Make sure we all vote and everyone else does too!

    2. Social media people: please put up an announcement. Make sure you tell people to check their spam/junk account and not to share their links (everyone's is unique).

    3. We’ll get the results the next week and then probably announce the results on the listserv before the annual meeting.

  1. Lightning Talks

    1. Deadline for the lightning talks was last Friday. We received 8 responses. At 5 minutes each, that equals 40 minutes of content, which means we’ll have to cut a few.

    2. Kelly will clean up the applications and put them in a google doc for all of us to look through

    3. We can chat about the applications and probably pick 5 or so to participate.

  1. Student Chapter Update

    1. Emily has been working with Adrienne D. and a few others on the student chapter manual since January now, and they're getting into the final stages.

    2. They collected a lot of comments from current student chapter members and were able to pull common themes out of them. They're just formatting the manual now into 5 sections with an overview piece for each section/theme followed by excerpts of actual tips that students provided.

    3. This makes it relatable and easily changeable as technology, SAA, and student groups change over the next few years.

    4. We should have a final draft ready to send in within the next couple of weeks!

  1. Any other business

    1. An email is going to be sent out about SAA session re-cap sign ups. We’d like as many people as possible to write-up summaries of sessions at SAA for people who are unable to attend. Committee members should spread the sign-up sheet around so that we can have as many people writing as possible!

    2. Business Archives Section co-twitter chat is this week on Thursday, June 29th at 8pm EST! We’ve also recently connected with someone from the DACS subcommittee who is interested in doing another co-Twitter chat.

    3. Are people interested in a casual pre-business meeting meet-up in Portland? Whether it be drinks on Tuesday night or lunch before the meeting, if people are interested we can set something up! Email Adriana at adriana.michele.flores@gmail.com if you’d be interested.
