Promote Preservation Activities by Proposing a Session for the 2012 SAA Annual Meeting

The Steering Committee of the SAA Preservation Section invites all members to consider, confer and collaborate—and propose preservation-focused sessions for the SAA 2012 Annual Meeting, August 5-12, in San Diego, California.

The 2012 theme “Beyond Borders” enables us to envision new opportunities beyond our institutions and specializations, to expand our perceptions of history, culture, memory, and recordkeeping to arrive at a more inclusive and holistic view of the great work of archives.  See attached “Call for Program Proposals for the 2012 SAA Annual Meeting” for more information.

President Gregor Trinkaus-Randall is particularly encouraging participants to explore opportunities to collaborate in preparing session proposals.

The official “Call for Program Proposals” and session proposal form is available at: http://www2.archivists.org/conference/2012/san-diego/call-for-session-proposals-2012-annual-meeting

Daria D’Arienzo, chair of the Preservation Section’s 2012 Program Committee encourages members to be in touch with the Program Committee as they develop session proposals. She can be reached through the Section’s website or at ddarienzo@me.com or at 413-538-6489.

The committee is happy to work with any members to craft thoughtful and complete session proposals.  And, members should consider submitting them to the Preservation Section leadership for formal endorsement. (The section can only endorse 2 sessions—but all preservation sessions will be actively promoted through the Section’s media.)
