Conference Call Minutes: June 2017

Hi everyone! Please see below for notes and some follow-up from today’s call.  Attendance has been slim lately, so we’re going to do a survey to determine if there is a time that would work better for the majority.

On the call:  Glen, Marty, Jennifer Kate, Kara, Brianne, Mia

  • DAS Intern SelectionPlease review the spreadsheet attached and respond to the group with your top 3 intern choices by this Friday.
    • Intern position description: The DAS intern will carry out a project to collect data on the job market and skills sought by employers, review existing and proposed DAS course offerings, and analyze and report on gaps in order to make recommendations to the subcommittee regarding course development. This work will build on and refine the work initiated by the inaugural intern and will support longitudinal assessment of the curriculum to ensure its relevance to the professional community.
    • Selection criteria discussed included: interest in research, some knowledge of DAS certificate program, level of education/years experience, student or working professional?
  • LMS update – Everything is coming along very well and, pending some system integration, we hope to go live with our new Learning Management System this weekend!! We have already begun utilizing the platform to provide “course portals” for in-person course attendees to conveniently access all their course materials in one place. There are even discussion boards!  Read more about the course portals in May’s Instructor eNews and last week’s In the Loop. Stay tuned for more soon.
  • Revisions to DAS Course, Online Course and Webcast Development procedures and workflow + once-per-year course material revisions – With the implementation of new technology comes new processes, and offers us the opportunity to develop a simplified and more approachable workflow.  The current workflow was briefly discussed, and it was decided this would be a good topic for the in-person fall meeting.
  • Course Development Updates – Please provide comments/feedback by July 14
  • Sibyl would like an update on the status of the review of Digital Preservation course materials. Materials are located here.
  • Longterm Digital Project Management Online Course Proposal – Originally sent June 13, Feedback Requested (proposal attached)
  • Appraisal: Parts 1 and 2 – Suggestions for online instructors requested
  • Question: There is no DAS call currently scheduled for July. Would we like to have another the week prior to meeting in Portland, or will meeting in Portland suffice?
  • Recording: If you’d like to watch the recording of today’s call, please let me know.
