SAA Staff Update

  • SAA is getting a new LMS! Blue Sky eLearn’s Path LMS – will take about 2 months to set up, would love to do a soft launch at SAA Annual meeting.  Online course creation and webcast re-dos are a high priority.
  • New committee appointments have been finalized and notifications have been sent out. Glen is officially the new chair, will also have an incoming chair who will become chair in one year. To be discussed further on May call.
  • Suggest having a secretary role for the DAS Subcommittee to prepare agendas, take minutes and post them (or microsite web liaison could do the posting). Committee agreed that it might not be a good role for the intern but might be great for incoming chair as a way to get up to speed.
  • Reminder: Contribute to the DAS Certificate history spreadsheet.
  • Reminder: Participate in the poll to volunteer at the Education booth on the Expo floor.

Mosaic Scholars and Mentors

  • Scholars seem excited; none have registered for DAS courses or webcasts yet.
  • Mentors have been asked to provide updates on their contact with mentees and to ask for testimonials about their experience
  • SAA and Mosaic already planning for the next cycle and thinking of new ways to support the fellows. More mentors will be needed soon!

Sections

  • Glen has been in touch with the Electronic Records Section (see Glen’s email)
  • Mahnaz would like committee to have representation at section meetings. Electronic records section contact already in progress, Metadata is an area of interest as well. Should contact the chair and get on the agenda beforehand for any meetings committee members are attending. Mahnaz suggests developing protocol to contact sections.

Pilot Questions

  • Veronica joined the call for exam pilot question discussion – suggested questions were approved after minor revisions to replace retired courses for the July exam. Veronica will check on the pilots – may not have any for July.
  • Alice and Jennifer are learning the system and will help enter pilot questions.

DAS Comprehensive Exam

  • In February testing window, more people failed. 58 of 75 have passed the exam this fiscal year, so pass rate has dropped. SAA received multiple emails from frustrated test-takers.
  • Subcommittee members has not reviewed information sent.  Lori and Mahnaz will continue discussion of results and provide recommendations to test-takers that did not pass on a separate call on May 5.
  • Discussion of alignment of course content with exam question content, and exam difficulty level, should be continued.
