2023 Spring Webinar on "Digital Records and Collection Management"

 

The Collection Management Section spring webinar on "Digital Records and Collection Management" was held on April 10th, 2023. Lara Friedman-Shedlov is the Digital Records Archivist for the Archives and Special Collections Department of the University of Minnesota Libraries. They will describe how they are using a relatively low-tech approach to managing electronic records in the collections, primarily using Google spreadsheets to track and hand off materials through various stages of acquisition, accessioning, and processing.

Jonathan Kirkwood serves as Archivist at Sloan Museum of Discovery. He will discuss the development and professionalization of the workflow to ingest content into the museum’s digital archive: Sloan Museum Digital Collections despite limited resources and no budget.

Kari May is the first Digital Archives & Preservation Librarian for the University of Pittsburgh Library System. She will guide us through three occasions in which she used varying forms of advocacy to support the future of the digital preservation program she is creating.
