This course introduces students to theory and concepts that provide meaning to working with cultural heritage resources nad providing cultural heritage services. Using case studies and field observations, students are introduced to the origins of cultural heritage institutions and the current cultural, political, legal, and ethical issues affecting these institutions. They are introduced to curatorial and interpretive methods and practices, the technological tools for organizing, exhibiting and preserving resources, the methodology for documenting cultural heritage, and the educational tools that are necessary for connecting resources and services to communities.
