Steering committee
- Eric Stoykovich (Manuscript Librarian and College Archivist, Trinity College)
- Biographical statement: Since July 2019, Eric has served as Manuscript Librarian and College Archivist at the Watkinson Library, a public research library at Trinity College in Hartford. He oversees physical processing, reference, and collection development of the over 80 manuscript collections, dating roughly from the beginning of the seventeenth century to the present, as well as the over 2000 linear feet of Trinity College's archives. Some notable collections include the papers of educator Henry Barnard and author Charles D. Warner, the manuscript poems of Robert Frost and Martha L. Spencer, the letters of Wallace Stevens, and the papers of several important Connecticut families. His work to make accessible the archives of Trinity College takes him into documenting the college through improved record-keeping and more inclusive historical analysis. Eric has a range of archival and library experience, including work in special collections at the University of Maryland's Hornbake Library and the Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress, as well as with the digitization partners of the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Eric graduated with a B.A. in History from Brown University in 2002, a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Virginia, and a M.L.S. from the University of Maryland's iSchool. In 2019, he was re-certified by the Academy of Certified Archivists. Eric looks forward to addressing current challenges facing archival history, including visibility and recognition for scholarship within and outside of SAA. For the past three years, he has served as voluntary co-editor of the online-only official newsletter of the Archival History Section (archivalhistory.news). He served as the Chair of the Archival History Section in 2016-2017. He has written a number of book reviews in the field of archival history, including in The American Archivist, Archivaria, RBM, and Archives and Records.
- Natalie Worsham (recent graduate of Louisiana State University)
- Biographical statement: Natalie is a recent graduate from LSU with a dual degree of Masters of Library and Information Science and a Graduate Certificate in Archival Studies. Both my Bachelors (Nicholls State University, 2011) and Masters (Southeastern Louisiana University, 2014) degrees are in History. She is eager to enter the archives profession, but due to economic factors, hasn't landed any job in the field yet. She is currently volunteering on the weekends at the Historic New Orleans Collection in the archive to get experience processing collections.
- Candidate statement: I became a student member of SAA in the first semester of my MLIS program and was the intern for the Archival History Section from August 2018 to August 2019. In this role, I helped to draft posts, copyedit book reviews, and other tasks for Archival History News, the section's newsletter. I have since volunteered to continue to work on AHN as a co-editor. I would like to continue my involvement with SAA and the Archival History Section in the capacity of a Steering Committee Member. I appreciate the professional connections that I have made as well as staying abreast of the current scholarship related to archival history.
- Dainan Skeem (Manuscripts Curator, Brigham Young University)
- Biographical statement: Dainan is the curator of the 21st Century Mormon and Western Manuscripts collection at Brigham Young University's L. Tom Perry Special Collections with responsibilities for documenting the current century's history of the LDS Church, Utah, and the West. He has previously worked as an archivist at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with responsibilities for the University Archives' manuscript collections, including the Japanese American Veterans Collection. He has also worked as an archivist at the Hawaii State Archives right after graduating with his MLISc from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2007. While in Hawaii, he served as a board member of the Association of Hawaii Archivists from 2009-1013, taking on the role of President-Elect/President in 2012-2013. He is a certified archivist with the Academy of Certified Archivists and obtained the Digital Archives Specialist certificate with the Society of American Archivists.
- Candidate statement: I have enjoyed my experiences in learning and teaching about archival history, from taking courses on it during my library schooling to teaching Introduction to Archival Management at the University of Hawaii for three years. My work experience has also included working at an archival institution that began at the outset of a kingdom transitioning to a republic and then to a territory of the United States, with records that spanned the breadth of all systems. I would love to become involved professionally in archival history through SAA's Archival History Section.
