Old Business:

1.     Student Labor theme: EE is sharing the following with members: the 2018 Annual Meeting notes, the Literature Review document, and the Bibliography of readings for student workers. Thanks to all on great work on last year’s section theme!

New Business:

1.     Campus Histories 2019 section theme: EE reached out 6 individuals who expressed interest in working with us, asking if they would like to write something for either the blog or the Campus Case Studies. (See agenda item below). The idea is to see if we can develop a corpus of writing on this topic, which will have a longer shelf-life and be of continuing usefulness, while it might also help us identify interesting topics or experts and help us develop the section meeting for Austin.

2.     Section annual meeting planning: August 3rd 2019: the deadline for the SAA form has been moved to March 7. EE will complete by that date. The group discussed the format and structure for the meeting and decided upon an engaging “lightning round” type of presentations, with Q and A, following a business meeting and potential update from Council via our liaison. Speakers can be drawn from steering committee, from those who expressed an interest in the topic and helping, and from others working with  evolving campus histories.

3.     Education discussion: EE and Benn had a conversation with Rana Salzmann of SAA Education regarding the tools we might make use of for the section theme, and to learn about the process for recommending or teaching a course. We concluded that the learning tools we seek are not available through SAA; also that we are welcome to propose a new course.

Council Update (Petrina): none.

Academic Archivist blog update:

A few are interested, in response to EE’s invitation to members and EE will put them in touch with MS.

Campus Case Studies update: nothing firm; also see item 1. above.

Other:

Nominations: May 15th, nominations due to SAA. Nominations needed for this year include Vice-Chair/Chair Elect, Two Steering Committee Members. The Immediate past chair runs the committee with outgoing Steering Committee members. (2019 will be Rebecca, Greg and Christina). Elections June 1.
