Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for joining us as 2012 draws to a close! The articles in this issue showcase the diversity of responsibilities we encounter in our day-to-day jobs. Lance Watsky tackles the challenge of managing audiovisual content. Sarah Wagner describes the Amway Archives’ efforts to develop and leverage relationships with other teams. Jamal Booker tells the tale of how Coca-Cola used social media to solve an Archives mystery and spin an engaging story for Coke (and music) aficionados around the world. You’ll also find updates from Section Chair Scott Grimwood and SAA Council Liaison Beth Kaplan, and hear attendees of the recent Business Archives Workshop weigh in on their experiences. Finally, take a moment to pay tribute to Audrey Newcomer, a colleague we lost too soon.
Once you’ve read the news, continue the conversation! If you are logged in, you will notice an “Add a comment” link at the bottom of each page – please feel free to leave feedback or start a discussion. The Section Steering Committee is dedicated to facilitating discussion among our membership, all year round. Volunteers have been working to compile key takeaways from August’s Colloquium and package them for the membership (please see the Message from Section Chair Scott Grimwood for more details). These will be posted to a secured area of our microsite when complete.
As always, thanks to our talented contributors for making this newsletter possible! If their stories have inspired you to share your expertise with the group, please contact us!
Best wishes for 2013,
Aubrey Carrier, Wells Fargo & Co.
