Web Archiving Section Steering Committee – Minutes

Present: John Bence, Todd Suomela, Michelle Schabowski, Karl-Rainer Blumenthal, Rachel Taketa
1) New Name = Web Archiving Section
- Twitter handle and blog name will be changed – what about graphic image with “roundtable” and the SAA logo?
- SAA to give out broad information to all members re: name changes so no need to duplicate efforts for Web Archive Section members
2) Sheri Laster UCSB of the ca.gov project
- Possible topic for presentation / discussion at the annual SAA section meeting and also co-host for a future webinar
- John will keep in touch with her
3) Jefferson Bailey Webinar
- Scheduled for March 8, 2017 - Intro to Web Archive APIs
- Will send out direct invites (and reminders right before) to people who sign using Google Form
- Will publicize on Twitter and the Listserv
- Will be able to use the Archive-It WebEx subscription for the webinar
4) Update on the Survey of Members
- good response so far – Alexis will close the survey January 16, 2017
5) Twitter analytics summary – Close to 900 followers
6) Possible topics/speakers for the SAA annual section meeting:
- End of Term (EOT) project
- Spontaneous web archiving collections – government data sets
- Canadian web archiving projects
