RAAC is an active member of the national archives community, and as such participates in advisory and advocacy efforts as well as development of best practices. Below are some of the projects and activities RAAC has undertaken.
- Endorsed Developing and Mainintaining a Strong State Archives guidelines developed by Council of State Archivists (Fall 2016)
- With CoSA, NAGARA, and SAA, drafted recommendations to the incoming Trump administration on matters of archival policy. (Steering Committee, Winter 2016-17)
- Letter to Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) regarding not enacting proposed future budget cuts at the Library of Virginia. (Steering Committee and Chair of Advocacy Subcomittee, January 2017)
- Letter to Nellie Gorbea, Sec. of State of Rhode Island, in support of training, mentoring and support for the new Rhode Island State Archivist. (Steering Committee, October 2017)
