Using a Digital Camera to Copy Books and Documents Saturday, April 23, 2011, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Harold McClendon will show you how you can setup any digital camera, including a point & shoot camera, to photograph books and documents in a library.  Not only do you save money but you get a better copy.  The first part of the class will be a demonstration of how to use the camera in a library.  The second part of the class will individually demonstrate for each class participants how to configure their individual cameras.

Saving Stuff: How to Care for and Preserve Your Collectibles Book Discussion Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Don Williams, Senior Conservator, Smithsonian Institution, discusses his comprehensive book on preserving every type of collectible -- from the sentimental to the valuable.  For all collectors, "Saving Stuff" explains -- in plain language – how you can use the techniques of museum professionals to keep your prized possessions in mint condition.

Saving Your Treasures -- Film and Discussion Thursday, April 28, 2011, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Tucked away in attics and basements, boxes and trunks...family photographs, quilts and heirlooms are slowly disintegrating. But there is something you can do!  "Saving Your Treasures" introduces you to the science and art of conservation and along the way offers advice to help you preserve and protect your own treasures at home.  Yvonne Carignan, Historical Society Library Director and Head of Collections, will introduce the film and lead discussion/answer questions afterward.
