CALM is charged with:
- Fostering and developing ways and means of effecting closer cooperation among the organizations
- Encouraging the establishment of common standards
- Undertaking such activities as are assigned to the committee by either of its parent bodies
- Initiating programs of a relevant and timely nature at the annual meetings of one or more parent bodies either through direct committee sponsorship or by forwarding particular program plans to the appropriate unit of one or more parent bodies for action
- Referring matters of common concern to appropriate committees of ALA, SAA, or AAM

The joint ALA/SAA/AAM Committee on Archives, Libraries, and Museums (CALM) is organizing a facilitated panel discussion about inclusivity in libraries, archives, and museums (LAMS) for the 2017 SAA Annual Meeting to be held July 23-29 in Portland, Oregon.
The ALA Midwinter CALM meeting will be held on Sunday, January 22, from 8:30-10:00am in Room A406 of the Georgia World Convention Center.
