Question posed by Nominating Committee: What will be your criteria for choosing a slate of nominees, and how will those help SAA in its mission?

The process and criteria for choosing a slate of nominees for the Society of American Archivists is essentially the means through which SAA fulfills its mission and strategic plan. The leaders chosen by the Nominating Committee and later elected by the membership of SAA should be identified in partnership with a wide range of groups within the organization, reflecting and expanding the diversity of our organization. Working collaboratively with members of the Nominating Committee for the Society of California Archivists, I have grappled with the challenges of finding qualified, dedicated candidates—balanced with the role of the Nominating Committee member to provide a compelling case to prospective candidates. As a member of the SAA Nominating Committee, I would be committed to a slate of nominees who reflect the shifting practices of our profession, serve as a voice for many perspectives, and react to our urgent call for advocacy.
