The Society of American Archivists Foundation is the nation’s leading source of nonprofit funding dedicated to the interests of archives and archivists. As part of our mission, we raise money for scholarships. The Mosaic Scholarship Fund has provided tuition assistance and mentoring support to 13 graduate students in archival science since 2009. These students are from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.

“Without the Mosaic Scholarship I never would have been able to attend the annual conference and make such wonderful connections with other minority archivists and librarians,”says BARRYE BROWN, 2013 scholarship recipient and archivist at the Avery Research Center in Charleston, South Carolina. “I was able to connect with archival professionals who are just as concerned with diversifying the archival record and profession as I am.”

By contributing to the Day of Giving, you can assure that the Mosaic Scholarship Fund will continue to shape an inclusive archives profession. We need you to make this day a success.

“Addressing diversity is not easy. It’s hard work,”says ELIZABETH ADKINS, past president of SAA and director of information governance for Grant Thornton LLP. “And while it’s true that it’s the ‘right thing to do,’ it’s also true that paying attention to diversity will improve the profession and SAA in ways we may not currently envision.”

If you haven't joined in yet, don't miss your chance to help the SAA Foundation reach our goal of 240 gifts in 24 hours.
