Eyebeam Receives SAA Foundation Recovery Grant

November 26, 2012—Eyebeam, an organization whose mission is “to provide artists with a collaborative environment for research and experimentation at the intersection of art, technology, and culture and to share this work with a diverse audience,” is the latest recipient of a $2,000 grant from the SAA Foundation's National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives to assist in recovery from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. MORUS Receives Recovery Grant from SAA Foundation

November 16, 2012—The Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space in New York City has received a $2,000 grant from the SAA Foundation's National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives to assist in recovery from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. MORUS collections document the social activism of the 1980s through the 21st century in the East Village. Prom Appointed Publications Editor

Christopher J. (Chris) Prom, assistant university archivist and associate professor of library administration at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, was appointed Publications Editor of SAA and will begin his three-year term on February 28, 2013. The appointment was made by the SAA Council following a four-month search. Click here for more details.

Recovery Grant Awarded to Printed Matter in NYC

November 9, 2012--Printed Matter, Inc., in New York City has received a $2,000 grant from the SAA Foundation's National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives to assist in recovery from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. "Resources for Volunteer Programs in Archives" Now Available

Coproduced by the National Archives and Records Administration and SAA, this free guide introduces you to volunteer activities underway in various archives and provides examples of resources, such as volunteer applications, handbooks, emergency contact forms, and volunteer job descriptions. Use this resource to revamp or launch a brand-new volunteer program at your own archives, and be sure to share this guide with colleagues and friends. Call for 2013 Student Paper and Poster Presentations

The 2013 Student Program Subcommittee is accepting proposals for two special sessions—a paper session and a poster session—dedicated to student scholarship during the Joint Annual Meeting of CoSA and SAA in New Orleans, August 11-17, 2013. Work from both master’s and doctoral students will be considered. Proposals are due February 1, 2013. Read more and submit your proposal here.
