SAA Joins Call Urging Congress to Fund International Education and Foreign Language Studies

September 15, 2023—SAA has joined the Coalition for International Education and 32 other organizations in a letter to the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies urging the Committee to fund the U.S. Department of Education's International Education and Foreign Language Studies account at the same level as FY 2023 at the very least. Citing the value and importance of foreign language studies, the letter states, "The economic well-being and national security of the United States depend substantially on its citizens' ability to communicate and compete by knowing the languages and cultures of other countries." Read the full letter here.
