Encoded Archival Description (EAD)

Encoded Archival Description is a non-proprietary standard for the encoding of finding aids for use in a networked (online) environment. Documentation is hosted by the Library of Congress. The standard is maintained and developed by the SAA Standards Committee’s Technical Subcommittee for Encoded Archival Description.

The EAD Tag Library (Version 2002) also is freely available for download as a PDF (see file attachments below).
