September 19, 2012—While issuing his annual Georgia Archives Month proclamation today, Governor Nathan Deal said, “We’re still working on our budget proposals right now, but the archives will stay open,” according to an article in the Clayton News Daily. Efforts are underway to get clarification and specifics on this announcement from the Governor and the Secretary of State. Meanwhile, advocacy efforts by individuals and organizations within the state and nationwide continue.
