Description of Tour:
Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection is an institute of Harvard University in Washington, D.C., which supports research and learning internationally in Byzantine, Garden and Landscape, and Pre-Columbian studies. Staff from the Image Collections and Fieldwork Archives (ICFA) will provide attendees with a brief tour of the Research Library and an overview of ICFA collections. The Research Library is a non-circulating collection of 210,000 volumes that support scholarship in Byzantine studies, Pre-Columbian studies, and Garden and Landscape studies. ICFA’s photograph collections comprise more than 500,000 images art, architecture, and archaeology in a variety of media. The archival collections include fieldwork records and scholarly papers, including administrative records, correspondence, fieldwork notebooks, research notes, manuscripts, drawings, tracings, photographs, negatives, and motion picture films. Both the Research Library and ICFA are housed in a building designed by Robert Venturi and completed in 2005.

After the tour, attendees are welcome to visit the Museum and Gardens, which are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, from 2-5 PM.
