2019 Joint Annual Meeting Travel Awards

The Society of American Archivists Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of ten Travel Awards—of up to $1,000 each—to support attendance at the 2019 Joint Annual Meeting of the Council of State Archivists and SAA in Austin, July 31–August 6.

Travel awards may be applied only to conference registration fees and related expenses (such as travel, lodging, and food) incurred to attend the Joint Annual Meeting. Only current SAA members are eligible for this award. The primary criterion for selection will be financial need. (Note: Responsibilities as a caregiver for children, parents, partners/spouses, or other family members will be considered in evaluating financial need.) Applicants must complete an online form and attach a résumé or curriculum vitae.

Award determinations will be made by a selection committee comprising three SAA Foundation Board members and one SAA Council member and will be based on applicants’ responses to the following: 

• How will attendance at the Joint Annual Meeting contribute to your professional development and career goals?
• Provide an explanation of your financial need.

Requirements: Awardees are required to attend the entire conference. Within 30 days of the end of the Joint Annual Meeting, awardees must submit:

• A meeting evaluation form demonstrating attendance at sessions and all-attendee events.
• Expense receipts totaling up to $1,000.
• A 400- to 600-word report assessing the value received from the travel award and noting any suggestions for improving the travel award process.

All applicants will be notified of the status of their application by June 15 – in advance of the July 6 early-bird registration deadline.

 Applications are due no later than May 1, 2019.
