SAA Foundation Names 2019 Annual Meeting Travel Award Recipients

June 25, 2019—The SAA Foundation Board is pleased to announce the following recipients of its 2019 Joint Annual Meeting Travel Award:

  • Jessica Chapel (Harvard Law School Library);
  • Stephanie Crawford (Rutgers University);
  • Jeremy Evans (University of Michigan);
  • Xuemin Guo (Sun Yat-Sen University);
  • Julia Larson (Art Design & Architecture Museum, University of California Santa Barbara);
  • Allison Olivarez (Amon Carter Museum of American Art);
  • Gayle Schechter (Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center); 
  • Katherine Schlesinger (City of Santa Monica, California);
  • Alexandra Smith (Birmingham Civil Rights Institute); and
  • Althea Topek (Tulane University). 

Each award recipient has been awarded $1,000 to support travel and attendance at the 2019 Joint Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. They were chosen from among 40 applicants by a review committee of the Foundation Board, based on financial need and how attendance at the meeting would contribute to their professional development and career goals.

This award was made possible by the SAA Foundation Strategic Growth Fund, which supports the Foundation’s strategic priorities, including professional and public education, publications, and research.
