The SAA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, chartered in 2011, with a mission to support and enhance the work and welfare of the archival community in all its diversity, through research grants, scholarships, and recognition of excellence in the profession. The Foundation’s core work is to grow a reserve of funds that can support increasingly substantial efforts to improve the archives profession. The Foundation Board, composed of sixteen Board members supported by SAA staff, believe strongly that the work of the Foundation benefits all of us in the archival community, and they work continuously to expand its capacity.

The Board's Nominating Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Board, which then puts forward nominations for election by the SAA Council.

Deadline: February 1, 2024 (CST)

TO VOLUNTEER FOR THE SAA FOUNDATION BOARD

Complete and submit the self-nomination form by February 1, 2024 (CST). You may save changes and return to this form; you may also change and resubmit information. SAA membership is not required for a position on the Foundation Board or its component committees. The Society of American Archivists and its Foundation center their organizational values on diversity and equity and are committed to building a culture of inclusion. The application process requires the submission of a diversity statement (see link to Guidelines below) and a resume or curriculum vitae, which you will be asked to attach to your submission.

In January 2021 the SAA Council approved a requirement that applicants for all elected positions submit a diversity statement, as this helps SAA, its leaders, and its members to elect candidates who are best positioned to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in SAA, the profession, and beyond. It also encourages candidates to articulate the diversity they bring to their respective positions. This requirement applies to SAA Foundation Board positions.
