SAA Seeks Course Instructors: Ethics in Action

September 15, 2026—The Society of American Archivists' Committee on Education (CoE) is seeking updates to the curriculum of Ethics in Action to align with developments in the field over the last decade and proactively address emerging concerns. The revision process will:

  • Consist of a team of instructors creating a modular, asynchronous course (3-4 hours length in total) that covers relevant topics and provides strategies for navigating real world ethical dilemmas.
  • Begin in October 2026 with the goal to record a new webcast by the end of March 2027.
  • Have a time commitment that will vary, but likely entail 2-3 check-in calls and semi-regular asynchronous collaboration (e.g. emails, script-drafting, etc.) to prepare for re-recording the webinar

Instructors will each receive a stipend between $350 and $700 (exact amount depending on the number of speakers selected, scope of work, and the approved SAA budget).

Strong applicants will have experience teaching, specifically in an online setting such as Zoom, and will have knowledge of SAA’s Core Values and Code of Ethics. Preferred qualifications include expertise in addressing one or more of the following:

To indicate interest, please email education@archivists.org and include a current résumé or CV and a brief statement describing your professional experience with one or more of the listed topics by October 15, 2026 for priority consideration.
