n. ~ 1. A long, thin, flat strip of material. - 2. A format that uses a long, thin strip of material wound on a hub and sometimes housed in a cartridge or cassette.

Notes: 

Tape1 may be made from paper, plastic, or cloth. It is often coated with adhesive on one or both sides and is used to seal materials or repair tears. - Tape2 is used for audio, video, and data formats.
